The TSMU and Ingorokva High Medical Technologies University Clinic are currently enrolling bone marrow donors.
Forty-five individuals have already expressed their willingness to join the stem cell donor registry. The Health Service of the Municipality of Tbilisi City will generously provide each volunteer with a voucher worth GEL 5000 to support specific research.
It is anticipated that the stem cell donor registry will be finalized by March 1, 2025. For Georgia to become a member of the World Marrow Donor Association (WMDA), the registry must have 500 registered donors.
Establishing a stem cell donor registry in Georgia will greatly facilitate allogeneic (unrelated) bone marrow transplantation.
